People's poetry: Road dog

WalkerEvansHitchhidkersVicksburgvicinityMarch2

Was it that long ago

That I put my pack on my back

Walkin to the highway some new seeds to sow

Or gettin in that over the road truck , nothin but a sack

With all my shit or what little shit I had

Road dog, ridin from jump, bad

Bout movin on wherever, the next campaign

Or the next town wherever the road went

Always felt I was sent

Good thing bout bein a road dog

Nothin to hold you back

When you say you're comin, nothin to hold you back.
